Fresh Meat & Poultry (MAP)
The Challenge of Fresh Meat Preservation
Fresh meat is highly perishable. To extend shelf-life and maintain that appealing bright red color (bloom), manufacturers use Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). This typically involves flushing the tray with a specific gas mix, often high oxygen (60-80%) to keep meat red, balanced with carbon dioxide (20-40%) to inhibit bacteria.
How C650M supports the Meat Industry
The C650M is engineered specifically for these gas-flushed trays.
1. Dual Gas Analysis: It simultaneously measures O2 and CO2 levels to ensure the mixture is perfect for every batch.
2. Anti-Clog Protection: Testing raw meat can be messy. The C650M probe uses specialized hydrophobic filters to prevent blood or moisture from entering the sensor, ensuring longevity.
3. Fast Spot Checks: QA teams can quickly pierce the top film of a tray on the production line to verify seal integrity and gas mixer performance.
Important Note on Vacuum Packs
Please note that the C650M is designed for packaging with headspace (gas). It is not suitable for vacuum skin packaging (VSP) where the film tightly adheres to the meat, as there is no gas volume to extract and analyze.
